Since 1981, Michele Evans has been teaching ballet, then ballroom dancing throughout Connecticut, eventually settling at the West Hartford Masonic Hall. Because of her bubbly enthusiasm, and the way she made dancing easy to learn, her group classes grew to such a point that she had to open her own studio. So, in 2009, she created the Hartford Ballroom Dance Studio.
It was natural for her son and daughter, Lisa Marie and Nate, to join her as fellow dance teachers. Thanks to her, they started dancing at a very young age, and have been dancing for over thirty years. After Michele retired, they took over the studio and are now doing everything they can to make ballroom dancing easy and fun!

Lisa Spiro The daughter/sister Lisa has been dancing since she was five years old. It started with being on her mother's dance team for children, and continued with her mother's adult group classes. In 2010, Lisa graduated college with an Anthropology degree but decided that teaching ballroom dancing would be more fun. She asked her mom to hire her and has been teaching ballroom dance ever since! |
Michele Evans The mom and founder Michele has been teaching ballroom for over 30 years. Before that, she was a World Dance Champion! She is a very talented dancer, and a wonderfully energetic teacher. She started out as a ballet teacher at the Hartford Ballet before switching over to ballroom dancing. After working at a couple of studios, she went off on her own and rented floor spaces at various community centers, eventually settling at the Masonic Hall in West Hartford. When her classes got too big, she finally leased her own space and set up her own business: Hartford Ballroom! Michele is now retired but can still be seen out on the dance floor. |
Nate Evans The son/brother Nate started dancing when he was 3 years old. Like Lisa, he too was part of his mother's dance team until he was 18 years old. Afterwards, he discovered his passion in improvisational social dances, such as swing, hustle, and especially tango. In 2009, Nate began teaching dance. He has learned from numerous teachers in order to develop his own unique way of teaching dance. His specialty and his passion is Argentine Tango. |
