Since 1981, Michele Evans has been teaching ballet, then ballroom dancing throughout Connecticut, eventually settling at the West Hartford Masonic Hall. Because of her bubbly enthusiasm, and the way she made dancing easy to learn, her group classes grew to such a point that she had to open her own studio. So, in 2009, she leased her own space and created the Hartford Ballroom Dance Studio.
In 2015, her two children, Lisa Spiro and Nate Evans, took over the business and relocated Hartford Ballroom to 56 Arbor St. We share the former Underwood Typewriting facility with many other artists and we love it!
Our Mission
Our goal here at Hartford Ballroom is simple: to make ballroom dancing as fun and as easy to learn as possible.
We believe dancing is a fun and wonderful way to not only exercise, but socialize as well! And we want everyone to have the chance to give it a try.
Which is why here at Hartford Ballroom, we don't sell packages, and we don't insist you come every week to learn how to dance. All of our group classes are walk-in classes so there is no need to register ahead of time. If you choose private lessons, you only pay for the appointment you made, not for a package of 10 or 20 lessons that you might never use.
To top it off, there is no need to buy fancy dance shoes when you are just starting out, and there is no need to come with a partner. Just come on in and have fun with us! It's quality ballroom dancing without the expensive contracts.
