Hello dancers!
Starting today, we are pleased to present our first ever video blog! We're calling it "Hartford Ballroom's Tips & Techniques", or "HBTT" for short. The videos we will post will be helpful advice on technique, etiquette, and good dance habits. I know some of you have been asking for video tutorials, but unfortunately we're not going to do that here. As many of you know, we don't allow people to take videos in our group classes, mainly because they can so easily be copied and re-distributed without our permission. We do, however, feel comfortable with publicly sharing some helpful advice to enhance your dance experience. Check our website and Facebook page regularly to see new videos, which will be posted once or twice a month. On this site, you can find them on this blog page, or on the page labeled "HBTT Video Blog". Each video will be part of a series ("Technical Tips", "Pet Peeves", etc.) to make them easier to find later. Enjoy! -Lisa Spiro Hey Dancers! Happy September!
Kids are now going back to school, vacations are over, and it's time for workshops to come back to Hartford Ballroom! Yay! Our Salsa weekend workshops are returning on Saturday, September 9th and 16th! If you want more information, click here! Also, on September 9th we have a Shim Sham workshop! Shim Sham is an extremely popular swing line dance that you really need to take a class to learn. Click here for more details! For all our dance events, we're right on schedule! The only issue this month is that HCD's Friday Swing Dance isn't happening on the first Friday this month, which comes into conflict with Nate's Milonga Mariposa. Not to worry though, you can still attend both! Spend some time with Eight To The Bar at the Swing Dance first, then head on over to Milonga Mariposa at around 10 p.m. or so. It'll be a long night of dancing, but it'll also be loads of fun! Check out the event dates in our Upcoming Events Section. For dance classes, Cha Cha is joining the rotation as we say good-bye to West Coast Swing. Here's the line-up: Level 1: Salsa and Cha Cha Level 2: Cha Cha Level 3: Slow Waltz Level 4: Bolero Level 5: Argentine Tango For the class schedule, click here. For last month's step list, go to our Lesson Recaps Page and click on August. It's going to be a busy and entertaining month! We look forward to seeing you on the dance floor! -Lisa Spiro, Hartford Ballroom dance teacher Dances CoveredLevel 1: Bachata and Merengue

Just a quick alert to let people know that I'm currently updating our flyers and planning out the monthly dance rotation for next year. Clearly, we've been out of flyers for ages, and I've hesitated printing more due to the amount of work that was needed to make sure the information on them is accurate. After the website was updated, I felt confident enough to update the flyers as well. I'll be sending them over to Michele and Nate for their approval, and then I'll be able to print everything by next Saturday. So, be sure to visit our studio within the next couple of weeks to grab some new flyers! Happy dancing! -Lisa Spiro Hello dancers! Lisa Spiro here with good news! I've finally fixed the website! Whoo-hoo!
A long while back, I made an attempt to re-arrange the website to make it more streamlined and easier to use. I discovered that I could use something called "anchor links" to redirect people to another section on the same page and was really excited about it. Suffice it to say, I sorta kinda failed in my quest. The anchor links refused to work, so half the buttons and links wouldn't work, and I kept overlooking update changes. I got discouraged and gave up for a time. This past week, I put my foot down, and forced myself to re-examine every page and fix all the glitches. I discovered that the anchor link conundrum had a very simple fix and found that the Weebly web design program had some other useful tools I could use. Now, after three days of editing, re-arranging, and updating, I am proud to say the website is finally the way I want it to be! There's more information on each page, but the pages are easier to navigate (no more constant scrolling down!) All the links and buttons now work, and while I can't accurately update every single step list for the past year, I have posted the step lists for this past June and July. So, dancers, please feel free to take a look around! I'm still learning about web design, and I do plan on making other minor changes and add-ons over the next few days. If you spot any glitches or typos, please go to our Contact page and write me an e-mail. Enjoy! -Lisa Spiro, Hartford Ballroom Dances Covered:Beginner: Bolero Intermediate: Argentine Tango
