Description of the classes

Social Ballroom Dancing

The key to learning how to dance is repetition; it's as simple as that.

Absolute Beginners:  The Classic Dances

$10

This is the perfect class to start,  just for beginners.   We focus on the 6 most important dances because these are the dances that will give you a solid foundation in partner dancing.  A nice slow pace to enjoy dancing while you  are learning and exercising in a friendly atmosphere.

6 dances over a period of three months, 2 dances per month:

Rumba and Waltz, Tango and Cha Cha, Foxtrot and Swing.

Monday

7: 00 to 8:15 p.m. dance lessons covering 2 dances

8:15  to 9:00 p.m. practice

New Trends with Old Dances: Argentine Tango, Salsa, Cuban Salsa, and West Coast Swing

Three old dances have been rediscovered and they are quite popular, but they are usually danced on separate nights at different locations.  This is the only chance to learn how to dance them conveniently grouped together.

When ballroom dancing has become your hobby, you will want to work more in depth, the way the professionals do; we call this technique.  There are several steps that are essential to know with correct technique before continuing to a more advanced level .  We cover those steps as fundementals.

Ballroom Dancing Technique

Sunday

Fundamentals

Basic Technique

4:00 to 5:00 p.m.

It is important to know thoroughly the fundamental steps and footwork of a particular dance.  Proper technique will improve your balance, posture and dancing skills.

Intermediate I

Intermediate Technique

5:00 to 6:00 p.m.

This is a class for students who are proficient with the fundamentals.  We  continue to work on more advanced steps that will develop good technique like footwork, rise and fall, CBM, these are essential for the serious dancer aspiring to progress to a more advanced level.

Intermediate II

Advanced Technique and Concepts

6:15 to 7:15 p.m.

This is a class for students with at least one year experience in partner dancing.  We explore the important concepts (alignment, swing, leg action, rhythm interpretation, etc.) necessary to progress to the advanced level.

For the first three classes (Fundamentals, Intermediate I and Intermediate II) the pricing is as follow:

One class $10, two classes $15, all three classes for $20

I recommend the Intermediate classes for at least two years before moving on to the Sunday Advanced level.

Advanced

Silver/Gold Level with a touch of International Style

7:30 to 8:30 p.m.

A class for students with extensive ballroom dance experience.  A class that is challenging and fun.

Open practice for all levels 8:30 to 10:00 p.m.

Tuesday Review of Sunday's Intermediate and Advanced Classes

Our traditional Sunday night became so crowded that we had to move to a new location.  Now on Tuesday we review the material covered on the previous Sunday to get a chance to work in a smaller group, repeat a class or make-up for a missed class.

6:30 Intermediate I

7:30 Intermediate II

8:30 Advanced

9:30 to 10:30 practice

One class $10, two classes $15, all three classes $20
